Paintings That Have a Life of Their Own

I have been working on boards a lot more these days. As I like to use lots of paint, gels, grit and even wood carving tools to cut into the board and paint, this substrate works very well for me. This piece is a commissioned piece 36" x 72" The client wants something "watery" maybe its a river, or maybe a waterfall. I will post more images as it progresses. As I work I don't sketch or have any clear image of what I want it to look like when it is completed. If it doesn't suit the clients request that is no problem, I'll start another one!

I am sitting by the fire, yes the fireplace has been lit to take the chill out of the family room. The nights have gotten colder and I have started to think about doing the seasonal clothing switch. Time to pack up the sleeveless shirts, linen blouses and get out the turtlenecks, and my North Bay tuxedo jacket.

(red flannal plaid shirt going into it's 30 year!)

But not so fast.... the yearly local art show season has started!

I am opening the barn studio and gallery for the next three weekends. I am always open for visitors by appointment, this just means I have to clean it up for this occasion. However will not be repainting the floor, I'm liking the patina of all the paint drips on the wood floor, from being busy all summer painting up a storm of wicked florals and works that I can't even explain...

I will be going into the studio tomorrow and start to set up. I'll post some images of what you can expect to see, but will keep some under wraps, so you will just have to come and see for yourself!

I have the room, so now I have a permanent gallery set up in my barn studio. If you would like a visit, just drop me an line and we can set up an appointment for a viewing.

Bring some walking shoes and take a stroll on our Caledon Trailway, and then have lunch at the Inglewood General Store.
